Why are Wood Fires Good?

Cost Effective

Wood Fires are one of the most cost-effective & cheapest home heating options. They are readily available and are more economical than a lot of other home heating fuels. Wood Fires are also designed to heat more than one room!

Renewable Energy

Wood is one of the most sustainable fuels. It is a renewable Energy Source when trees are re-planted and grown to replace those that have been harvested.

Choosing sustainably sourced firewood from forests that are managed responsibly, to provide as minimal impact on the environment as possible helps make the best choice for our environment.

Carbon Neutral

Did you know that burning wood from sustainable forests is carbon neutral & as wood that when burned cleanly & efficiently it produces no more carbon dioxide than if it was left to decompose naturally.

Trees, being a natural fuel, when burnt produces Carbon Dioxide. This Carbon Dioxide is re-absorbed and stored by plants and trees making the Carbon cycle process Carbon neutral.

When our flue kits are paired with wood burners which are now designed to optimise combustion and minimise emmissions they help to efficiently heat homes with more energy released from the wood & therefore reduce the impact to the environment.

Warm, Dry, Healthy Home

Compared to other types of heating, Wood Fires provide a dry heat for the multiple rooms, not just one, and we all know that warm, dry homes are healthier for you.

Wood Fires are also great for a family togetherness, providing a wonderful central location for the family to gather on those cold days & nights.

Getting the most out of your Wood Fire

Making sure that your wood is dry is the best tip for clean & efficient burning. Most softwoods take approximately 12 months to season, though this can be influenced by storage conditions, size of the wood & initial moisture content of the wood.

Using a moisture metre is recommended with a reading of 25% or less.

Having dry, seasoned wood will provide a cleaner burn, maximum heat, minimal emissions as well as minimising smoke production & creosote. Where as having wet, unseasoned wood with high moisture content will provide minimal heat, smoke production & flue pipe blockages.

Our Commitment to the Environment

Our Bees

We all know the importance of Bees for the survival of plants, animals & Humans!

Foley Industries has been committed to the cause of saving the Bees now for the last three years and continuing with our very own Bee hives on our property.

Fun Facts

90% of plant species rely on pollinators such as Bees

Bees are the most numerous & efficient pollinators, pollinating up to 2000 flowers per day

Bees help plants survive, while plants provide a third of our food supply, are used in medicine, keep our waterways clean, prevent soil erosion, make oxygen & absorb carbon dioxide
